What is Nook Tablet?
The Nook Tablet is Barnes & Noble’s latest fastest and lightest tablet with the best entertainment displayed in stunning VividViewTM. It is labelled as “Terrific Tablet” by msnbc.com. This latest edition of the Nook Family is one of the hottest item this year! It has the world’s most advanced VividView 7” touchscreen. Microphone is new for the Nook Tablet to be used to “Record narration for kids’ Read and Record™ books”.
The device has a 7 inches (18 cm) screen, 16 gigabytes of internal storage, a microSDHC slot compatible with cards up to 32 GB in size, 1 GB of RAM, and a 1 GHz dual-core processor. The Nook Tablet costs $249; the Amazon Kindle Fire, costs $199.
Design and Screen Size
Both of them are similar with the same size reading screens that measures 7 inches diagonally. It is about three times the size of an iPhone screen. The Kindle 3 is much smaller and lighter than the Nook. The Nook is super-light and portable and is 1/3 lighter than the leading tablet with an easy-to-hold soft touch design.
Software and Apps
Both tablets run on modified versions of Google Inc.’s Android software. Both Amazon and Barnes & Noble run their own stores and neither of them have direct access to Google’s Android Market for third-party applications. In terms of apps, Barnes & Noble claims that there are about 1,000 third-party applications available for the Tablet. Amazon has nearly ten times as many. The tablet has pre-loaded Nook Apps such as Netflix, Hulu Plus, Chess, Crossword, Sudoku, Media Gallery and others.
Storage and memory
The Nook Tablet has 16 gigabytes of storage plus a memory-card slot. 16 gigabytes of memory can store up to 10,000 books. It can be added up to 32 gigabytes with a memory card. The Amazon Kindle Fire only has a 8 gigabytes of internal storage and no memory card slot.
Battery Life
Nook Tablet has a capability of up to 11.5 hours of reading or 9 hours of video without recharging. The Kindle Fire on the other hand has only 7.5 hours.
Speed Of Device
Both devices are equally fast in terms of page turning speed. The push button technology for scrolling through the text is a little faster when comparing both devices side-by-side. Best of all, there is FREE Wi-Fi® in all Barnes & Noble stores
